See the light…..With White!

The year is flying by and Winter is now upon us. With the new season comes a flurry of new fashion colours and design trends just released to excite the inner decorator in you.

Sassi Trend Update November 09 - Photo 1Where do you even begin to start? It’s often very daunting when you start to plan a make-over or renovation. There are a few simple guidelines to consider which will make everything come together so much more easily and give you a fantastic result on completion.

The way we each choose to use colour is an expression of ourselves, it’s very personal. Colours will affect each of us in different ways and it’s important to consider a number of points before deciding which colours and textures to use when you decorate. Things like, who will use the space most, the size of the space, the amount of natural light and how the space will be used are important things to consider and then of course there’s the dreaded budget to consider as well.

The most current design trend is to use lots of whites! (…..And there are over 200 different shades of white to choose from.) The more white the better! Different shades of white in various textures on many surfaces will add visual interest to the space. White is a fantastic colour to use to create a feeling of space and openness. Combined with good light, whites can actually make a space feel much larger than it really is.

Strikingly fresh cool looks are achieved by simply accenting with greens, blues, purples or even neutrals combined with natural fibres and finishes. If you’re looking for a more dramatic impact, accenting with warm bold colours like reds, yellows and oranges will give you an equally striking effect. It’s just a matter of working out which way to go to suit you and your family.

White! I can hear the terror in your mind as you are reading this. If you happen to be like most of the population and have kids (this includes husbands – sorry guy’s but it’s true) to consider in the equation, then don’t despair because there are no hard rules and it’s easy to adapt this design trend to suit your personal needs without compromising the finished product and still be able to use and enjoy the space without having to follow everyone around with a handy wipe from daylight to dark.

Sassi Trend Update November 09 - Photo 3 It’s really only the upholstery that you need to consider changing for practical reasons, other than that everything else can be made of durable, hard wearing finishes that are easily wiped over in your normal cleaning routine.

White… Consider it!! It looks amazing, and it suits every home regardless of the age and style of the home. Whites will give you a vibrant base pallet to then add your own personality and touch.

At Sassi our passion is to help our customers create fabulous spaces that they love to spend time in. A space that reflects you, your family and your lifestyle. A space that is beautiful, functional and affordable.

Sassi Trend Update November 09 - Photo 4A room that you decorated many years ago can easily have new life breathed into it simply by changing a few accessories. New season ranges of vibrant cushions, rugs, paintings, wall art, lamps and accessories are arriving as we speak so if this sounds like the re-vamp you need, come and have a complimentary coffee from our in store coffee bar and check out what’s new in store at Sassi.

If you’d like to freshen up with a little make-over before Winter, take a couple a photos of the room or area you would like to make-over and bring them in to the store (even on your phone will do).

The Sassi team are happy to assist you in putting together a completely new look – but be warned, it’s addictive and once you start it’s hard to stop!

Happy decorating!
